3 kms from Kannur, is a beautiful palace of the former Arakkal Ali Rajas, the only Muslim royal family of Kerala that controlled parts of the coast and Lakshadweep.This was the residence of the only Muslim Royal family of Kerala, the Arakkal. Some recent construction works have been done on this palace. The descendants of the Raja still reside in an area closeby.The Arakkal Palace belonged to the only Muslim royal family of Kerala. The palace is of much historical significance and is a popular tourist attraction of Kannur.
