Archaeological Museum is housed in the 17th century Danish fort at Tranquebar, located at a driving distance from Nagapattinam. Danish Fort constructed in 1620 is a marvelous specimen of Danish architecture. The fort was renovated and presently it is in perfect condition. The adornments like carvings, paintings and inscriptions are prominently seen. The fort, presently under the control and maintenance of Tamil Nadu Archeological Department, attract all kinds of tourists. The Archaeological Museum displays many valuable archaeological materials and ancient old artifacts. The Archaeological Museum is open to public on all days expect Friday.
