About Brahmotsavam & Cattle Fair:
Among the four Brahmotsavams observed in Thiruvannamalai every year, the one celebrated during the month of Karthikai (November/December) is the most famous. Ornamented deities are mounted and taken out on a procession through the temple town during this yearly event. On the day of Karthikai Deepam this 10-day event comes to an end, when a huge lamp is lit on a cauldron with three tons of ghee at the top of the Annamalai hills. During the Karthikai Deepam festival, the 4-day Cattle Fair is organized, where nearly 20,000 cattle are brought.
