About Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary:

Situated 42-km from Tirunelveli, the Mundanthurai wildlife sanctuary boasts of dry deciduous to tropical wet evergreen forest patches of pure reeds. The sanctuary covers an area of 567-sq-kms. There is nothing to differentiate this sanctuary from that of Kalakadu, except the absence of Elephant and the Gaur. Though this sanctuary is a Project Tiger reserve, one can likely to sight other animals like Leopard, Sambar, Sloth Bear and Chital apart from a wide variety of Indian Primates including Bonnet Macaque, Common Langur, Nilgiri Langur and Lion-tailed Macaque. The best time to visit Mundanthurai is between October and January.

By Air:

Tuticorin airport is about 10 kms from the town, which connects the city to almost all major cities of India. You can get down here and hire taxis to get to the city. The other airport near to Tuticorin is at Vagaikulam in Tirunelveli dist.

By Rail:

Tuticorin is well connected by broad gauge rail to major cities like Tirunelveli, Chennai, Mysore, Bangalore, Madurai and Trivandrum.

By Road:

Tuticorin is well connected by National Highways with Madurai and Tirunelveli. Private and public bus services operate connecting the city to all the major cities of the state. Among local transport you can hire taxis and autos. You can also enjoy the city ride on cycle rickshaws.
