About State Museum Complex:

State Museum Complex, enclosing the Kerala State Museum and Zoo, is placed aptly at the cultural capital of Kerala Thrissur. It is close to Town at Town Hall Road in Chembukavu. The State Museum, established in a sprawling 5.5 acres of lusting green land, started functioning in 1885, The State Museum complex houses an Art Section enclosing amazing collection of sculptures, handicrafts, traditional jewelries, religious idols, Kathakali figures and traditional lamps. Apart from this Art Museum, a Natural History Museum exhibiting various praise worthy collections of different animals, a botanical garden and a Zoological garden are placed in this premise. It is open to public all days except Mondays. Time 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.

By Local Transport:

• By Bus – local bus service system is cheap.

• By Auto rickshaw – Auto rickshaws are the main form of local transport, if you don’t have your own means of transportation. Auto rickshaws running in the city limits are to use fare meters, while the ones from the adjacent areas need not use them. However it is a rule that such auto rickshaws without metres should not pick up passengers within city limits. There is a pre-paid auto rickshaw counter at Thrissur Railway Station.
